Ceux de Varsovie 2016
One channel video & sound installation, HD video, 3:30 min.
Jacqueline Dulac’s song “Ceux de Varsovie” from 1966 was a naive call within war-damaged Europe for the love of individuals regardless of their nationality. But mentioning different cities from which people who share the same blood, laughs and wishes come, Dulac does not include in her song anyone who is a non-European. This video work uses titles that visually replace the names of the cities which Dulac mentions, stating names of cities outside of Europe in which people were killed during terror attacks in 2015, and raises questions about mutual blood, laughs and wishes of people who are not part of the happy European Union.
